About

I’m a ‘thirty something’, country girl living in the middle of the forest with my dogs, a couple of pigs, several hens and a husband (before you ask, he is mine). What is perhaps more interesting, is what I’m living without – mains electricity for a start, central heating and a wide range of electrical appliances usually found in the majority of marital homes.

For some crazy reason, I have decided to write this blog to share with the world, my ramblings of life in the forest and our attempts at off grid living.  I started the blog at the very outset of our adventure, as we packed our worldly goods (excluding the hungry electrical stuff) from our very cosy, warm, on-grid cottage to head for the hills.

To be clear, I am not an urbanite unfamiliar with mud, muck or even mangelwurzels! The countryside is in my blood but I’ve a lot to learn if we are to make any serious inroads into reducing our carbon footrpint – particularly as there are some things I’m simply not prepared to compromise on! For a start you will not find me extracting the sap from birch trees to make my own wine or concocting lotions from dubious ingredients to slap on my face. Oh no – fine wine and expensive moisturisers are non negotiable!!

As for blogging (and no the laptop is not gas powered – yet!), I am a complete beginner. In fact, I really don’t know what I am doing, so please be patient as I slowly get to grips with the technology.

Please do talk to me or in blog speak ‘comment on my posts’ – (have I got that right?!) I’d love to hear from you.
